So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Communications in AMPS were managed by means of a common air interface that repre-
sented four different channels: a pair of forward and reverse voice channels and a pair of
forward and reverse-control channels. The forward channels were used for transmitting
signals from base stations to mobiles, whereas the reverse channels were used for receiving
signals. The forward-control channels also served as beacons to advertise the presence of the
base station [19]. The base stations typically had one transmitter/receiver pair for control
channels and eight or more pairs for voice channels [19].
