Roaming in 802.11 WLANs: General Principles
3.7 Those Pesky Laws of Physics
We have stated that this book attempts to cover the protocols and digital technologies which
are the basis for fast secure roaming in the 802.11 standard. The substantial length of this text
bears testimony to the fact that this topic is sufficiently broad, even without incorporating
serious discussions of the RF realities underlying all these protocols and systems. In this
section, we briefly touch upon a few of these RF realities that most blatantly interfere with
our digital-only perception of how this process works.
