
Practical Aspects of Basic 802.11 Roaming
The OID-802-11-BSSID-LIST-SCAN should be distinguished from vendor-specific interfaces
that exploit more intelligent scanning decisions by putting the decision about when to initiate
the background scan into the driver and, hence, making better decisions about when and how
long to stay away from the currently active channel. Vendor-specific interfaces are only likely
to be used by clients that are specific to that 802.11 hardware, so such features are not
commonly exposed in the more familiar generic 802.11 clients.
