So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

For this discussion, we will call the two delays just mentioned, D1 and D2. For clarity, D1
represents the time from the powering down of the first AP to the moment that the STA
decides to abandon the AP, and D2 represents the time from the STA deciding to associate
with the new AP and the resumption of application traffic. We approximate the sum D1 + D2
as 7 seconds. Allowing for the coarseness of the application delay measure performed, it is
reasonable to assume that these 7 seconds correspond to the approximate 5-second delay that
we observe in the application resumption in the local-roam case.
