Optimizing Beyond the 802.11 Standard
reduced this additional traffic, both preauthentication and OKC still require the four-way key
exchange following reassociation in order to establish the new PTK and GTK. CCKM goes
one step beyond this and reduces the post-roam association dialog to just the reassociation
request and response frames, a reduction of four frames as compared to the 802.11i approach.
The material which we will see from the 802.11r task group in Chapter 9 builds upon the
CCKM model in achieving a more efficient standards-based post-roam frame exchange.
