The consumer-level DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex) cameras are those aimed for the beginner to the hobbyist. You can usually buy one complete with a lens in a kit for less than $1000. These cameras, especially the newer models, are amazingly good and will do a fantastic job on these types of images. The advantage of using a DSLR is that you can change lenses. This means you can choose from a huge range of focal lengths and apertures. The lenses can range from a few hundred dollars to many thousands of dollars depending on the focal length and maximum aperture.
