I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Macro Lenses
True macro lenses allow the camera to capture subjects at a 1:1 ratio. These specialized lenses are great for photographing small objects like jewelry. Macro lenses come in a variety of focal lengths and price points. If you have a zoom lens that says “Macro” on it, chances are it really isn’t. It may allow you to get in real close, but it won’t be a true macro lens. That’s OK, however, as the goal is not to reproduce items at a 1:1 ratio but to fill the frame with the item, getting the most detail possible.
TIP
Nikon calls its macro lenses “Micro” lenses as you can see on the lens pictured in the chapter opener image.
