Preparing Images for the Web

The Right File Type, Size, and Resolution

Auction listing photos are obviously intended for use on the Internet, so they need to be formatted and sized properly. In the past, people only accessed the Internet via web browsers on their computers. But today, with the widespread adaptation of smartphones and tablets, people can get online everywhere and the size and resolution of the screens is much more varied. To help with this, eBay has some very specific guidelines for image size and quality. They want the images to have at least 500 pixels on the long side but recommend that they are longer than 1600 pixels.
