Photographing larger items outdoors can offer a sense of place and context for the items, but it can also be a little tougher. You will need to find a spot with a neutral background or an environment that helps the sales.
Have a nice yard? Then you can simply set the bike up on the grass and use it as a background.
Consider where the item for sale is usually used, then try to capture that type of area in the image. For example, the surfboard was photographed at the beach. If I lived in the mountains and was selling skis or a snowboard, I would photograph them in the snow. Just think of something more creative than the normal backgrounds, ...
