In this present study, only part of the glacier has been studied to show the scattering mechanism in

more precise way. Gangotri Glacier is located in the transitional zone between the Eastern– Western

part of Himalaya, in the Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, which ows from the north- west and

extends for 30 kilometers between latitudes 30°43’22” N and 30°55’.49” and longitudes 79°4’41”

E and 79° 16’34”E. Gangotri Glacier has a surface elevation of 4000– 7000 meters. The glacier’s

width ranges from 0.20 to 2.35 kilometers, covering an area of about 122 km
