early two decades ago, I wrote 101 Great Answers to
the Toughest Interview Questions. I hadn’t been a great
interviewee. Far from it—I had often not gotten jobs
for which I was eminently qualified.
Despite my sterling reputation with employment offices,
the book became a bestseller. In fact, it continues to sell, year
after year. I don’t pretend to know why it has done as well as
it has, but I will hazard a guess: It’s simple, straightforward,
practical, and written in a welcoming and humorous style.
