Drag Racing
The standing quarter mile is one of the most American of racing formats. Line two cars up against each other, give them the green light, and see who gets to the end first. Dragstrips can be found across the country and usually hold “grudge race” or “test and tune” nights most weeks where you can race any car that will pass a basic safety inspection. Admission can be as low as 20 dollars for a complete night of racing. A dragstrip with an active group of racers is lik ely to draw a wide variety of cars, including street cars from several decades, motorcycles, and sometimes even miniature dragsters with lawnmower engines.
