It can definitely pay to do your homework before installing a mod. A sound knowledge of how a mod should work and some knowledge of the manufacturer’s reputation are a great place to start. If you can get accounts from people who have installed a part just like the one you want, this is ideal. Install several mods and test them out at the races or dyno shop, and it won’t be long before beginners start asking you for advice.
