So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

Aerodynamics, Lighting, and Appearance
Just like with engine and suspension mods, exterior mods are most effective when they are designed to work together. This can be true of either functional mods or fashion. Automotive fashions come and go, but some principles—both aerodynamic and aesthetic—are fairly timeless.
From an aesthetic standpoint, the first consideration is the overall lines of your car. Most cars are built around a certain type of shape. A Honda CRX, for example, is made of mostly straight lines and nearly flat surfaces. The third-generation Mazda RX-7 has a shape dominated by curves, with very few straight edges.
