If you do not like the way your shifter feels, the aftermarket may have a fix for you. A short-throw shifter is one designed so that you may only have to move the shift knob half as far to go between gears. This can help you shift faster and may improve the way the shifter feels, although a short-throw shifter has to be pushed harder to compensate for not moving as far. A good quality shifter will also improve feel by being built to tighter tolerances so there is less “slop” and vagueness in the way it feels.
