When I went on the O’Reilly platform, I was astonished to find all the books there, plus live events and sandboxes so you could play around with the technology.I’ve been on the O’Reilly platform for more than eight years. I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Challenges
One of the major challenges that we found during our VA and patch management activity is the application dependency on the operating system packages. Due to this, care should be taken to not blindly update the system packages. Certain times when there are high-level vulnerabilities associated with certain system packages, we have to deploy it in Dev and QA to make sure that the application works perfectly. If it works, then all is well and good, but if it doesn't, then it's a pain to figure out which package might have caused the issue.
It would be great if we could separate out the application dependency and the patch management part, and this precisely can be done with the help of containerization.
