So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
The life cycle of patch management
Directly pushing patches to production servers can lead to unexpected events. Believe me, it's a first-hand experience, even if packages are system packages from an official repository.
There needs to be a process of systematically pushing of packages from DEV| QA | Prod. The systematic pushing will ensure that packages will not break things in the production environment.
In the previous approach, make sure to involve the QA team, as it will be the QA team that has to give you a sign-off. Just pushing patches and functional restarting of the server does not mean that the patches are successful; internally, it might lead to some conflicts in libraries due to which a part of an application's functionality ...
