So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

To analyze firmware filesystem contents on a deeper level, you could also use techniques such as firmware diffing, with which you could compare one firmware with its previous version and look at the differences. This would enable you to understand the security fixes and modifications which have been made in the new version and identify even undisclosed security issues in the previous ones.
Another thing which we could do with firmware filesystem content is look at the various libraries and components which have been used and see whether those components are outdated versions with vulnerabilities in them.
