It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
How to do it...
Securing data in transit for mobile applications has common requirements and best practices to follow. Best practices to secure data in transit include but are not limited to the following:
- Use the most updated TLS and cipher suite configurations the platform supports
- Verify the server X.509 certificate
- Validate the certificate hostname
- Only accept certificates signed by a trusted certificate authority, which includes public CAs as well as internal trusted CAs
- Disallow self-signed certificates
- Pin connections to only trusted certificates and/or public keys
