Key terminologies in radio
Let's have a quick look at some of the terminologies which you will find yourself coming across very often in SDR.
A simple radio system would include several components such as a sender, receiver, carrier wave, and medium. These components are pretty much what you would expect them to be. The sender is the component that sends the signal, which is received by the receiver, via the medium of transmission.
In most practical scenarios, the data wave that needs to be sent is modulated with a carrier wave, which is then sent to the receiver, where the modulated wave is demodulated to recover the original data wave which was to be transmitted.
