I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
How to do it...
The following are the steps:
- We will start the setup by cloning the FAT repo from the link https://github.com/attify/firmware-analysis-toolkit/ as follows:
git clone --recursive https://github.com/attify/firmware-analysis-toolkit.git cd firmware-analysis-toolkit && sudo ./setup.sh
This will also set up the database used by Firmadyne to store information about the firmware and for management in future. The password for the database will be set to firmadyne.
Once you have everything set up, it's time for us to pick firmware and emulate it and see what we are able to perform with the emulated firmware.
For this exercise, we will use firmware DWP2360b, which is firmware by D-Link for its Wireless PoE Access Point.
