Capacitor
Capacitors are one of the other most common components found in almost all embedded devices. As the name suggests, one of their primary tasks is to hold energy in the form of an electric charge.
Inside a capacitor are two oppositely charged plates, which hold the electric charge when connected to a power source. Some of the other usages of a capacitor are acting as filters, reducing electrical noise affecting other chips on the device, separating AC and DC components (AC coupling), and so on.
The unit of capacitance is the faraday denoted with an F, and it is calculated using the following formula:
Here, C is the capacitance, Q is the electric charge, and V is the voltage.
