So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Android application
Android apps are simple to disassemble and analyze statically prior to performing dynamic tests. Some level of effort is required when reversing Android apps, but if we can discover the low hanging fruit, then we have an easy win. We first need to acquire the MySubaru app via a third-party marketplace and ensure it is the same as the Google Play version. Once this is verified, the following steps should be taken to perform a baseline level of recon on the MySubaru Android app:
- Disassemble the APK using MobSF or a similar tool:
- Analyze classes and methods
- Identify third-party libraries
- Identify whether the app is native or hybrid
- Look for hardcoded values
- Look for potential secrets and environments
