It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

前章では、FinOpsにおいてコスト配賦がなぜ重要であるかについて議論しました。コスト配賦は、タグ、アカウント、フォルダ、ラベルのいずれか（またはこれらすべての組み合わせ）を介して行われるかにかかわらず、他のすべてのFinOpsケイパビリティの基礎です。
一貫した配賦戦略がなければ、未配賦のコストが大量に発生し、それらを分割したり、どのチームが責任を持つかを特定したりすることができなくなります。クラウド利用（FinOpsの第3の原則）に関して、利用状況を容易に確認できないのであれば、誰も自分たちのクラウド支出に対して説明責任を果たせないのではないでしょうか？
クラウドコスト配賦の主要な手順は、以下のようにコストを分割することです。
- AWSアカウント、Google Cloudプロジェクト、Azureサブスクリプションかリソースグループ、または、AWS Organizations、Azure管理グループ、Google Cloudフォルダなどを用いてクラウド固有のメタグループの構造にまとめる。これらはコスト配賦の定義を最も明確かつ容易に強制できるが、粒度と柔軟性に欠ける。
- リソースレベルのメタデータのようなタグ（AWS、Azure、Google Cloud）またはラベル（Google Cloudのみ）を用いる。これらは、使用量と請求データに対して、より深い意味を与える細かいリソースレベルのキー／値のペアを提供するが、実行時やクリーンアップ時に労力が必要である。
