7.1.1 Framework Overview

The ASIP Meister combines the advantages of both the ﬁxed base processor core

approach and the ADL approach by providing designers with the conﬁgurability

of base processors in an easy to use interactive environment and the ﬂexibility of

specifying a new processor core behavior. A dedicated Graphical User Interface

(GUI) of ASIP Meister provides designers with the easy conﬁguration of a target

processor. At the same time, since the behavior of the instructions is fully conﬁg-

urable using microoperation descr iption,it achieves the high ﬂexibility of processor

architecture.
