packing/decode require six pipeline stages,while a similar architecture in NISC only

needs one decompression stage.

NISC technology was originally developed in the Center for Embedded

Computer Systems (CECS) in University of California Irvine and its toolset is avail-

able for public use [6]. The rest of this chapter ﬁrst presents an overview of NISC

design ﬂow and then describes the GNR language for capturing a system consisting

of one or more NISC components.
