NSX for vSphere provides the capability to monitor, in detail, the traffic being exchanged between protected VMs, and to gain visibility into the applications running on different hosts and VMs. For each flow, you can view the source, destination, application, and ports in use. The number of sessions and packets transmitted per session are also captured, and those details can be used to directly configure firewall allow and block rules.
It is only possible to view flow information for machines that are running on hosts within clusters that have been prepared for NSX for vSphere, and have the distributed firewall enabled.
