Port mirroring

Users can leverage RSPAN and ERSPAN features when they like to centrally monitor network traffic, and they can take advantage of a sniffer or network analyzer device connected multiple hops away from monitored traffic.

Port mirroring helps in mirroring a distributed port's traffic to other distributed ports or defined physical switch ports. Port mirroring features can be leveraged to centrally monitor network traffic, and by using a sniffer or network analyzer device, connect multiple hops away from monitored traffic. Distributed switches give five options for the port mirroring features, as mentioned in the following table.
