vSphere Replication is built into the vSphere stack, and leverages a network-based replication mechanism to create redundant copies of virtual machines for disaster recovery. The replication traffic is copied via dedicated vmkernel networks of involved ESXi hosts. While a variety of vSphere Replication topologies are possible, a detailed discussion of these is clearly beyond the scope of this book.
