Phase 1 – Cost Center

In this phase, the focus is virtualization and standardization of compute, network, and storage layers of the data center, allowing IT to deliver up to 70% reduction in CapEx. This phase provides IT the ability to run traditional or new application types such as big data on this virtualized, standardized infrastructure, which is independent of the underlying hardware stack, and is easily extensible to the hybrid cloud.

There are three stages of capability maturity for data center virtualization and standardization (note that data center virtualization and standardization stretches across Phases 1 to 3):
