It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
How it works...
VM storage policies once created can then be used to filter and choose the desired datastore during various virtual disk (vmdk) placement scenarios.
For instance, if you were to create a new virtual machine, then you can choose to place its VMDKs on a datastore that matches a VM storage policy:
