I use a couple of learning platforms, but I'm on O'Reilly more than anybody else. When you're there, you start learning. I'm never disappointed.I'm always learning. So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Unmounting and detaching VMFS volumes
Unmounting a datastore is done when you intend to preserve the data on a VMFS volume, but still remove access to the volume. Detaching is performed on a LUN device and it is done to make sure that the access to the LUN is gracefully removed. It is recommended you unmount a VMFS datastore and detach its corresponding LUN device, before the LUN backing it is unpresented from an ESXi host.
