DIFFERENT ROLES OF GOVERNMENT IN THE ECONOMY

There are four important roles played by the government in an economy, namely:

1. The regulatory role;
2. The promotional role;
3. The entrepreneurial role; and
4. The planning role.

The first three roles of the state are elucidated in the following pages.
