It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.

通常、このような表示効果は長くハックだらけで複雑なJavaScriptを使
って実行されます。CSSだけでこれを実現するのは夢物語のようにも思え
るかもしれませんが、実際のところはどうなのでしょうか。

方法です。1 文字分ずつ幅を広げて、最終的にテキスト全体を表示させま
す。明らかに、この方法では複数行のテキストに対応できません。しか
し、このような表示は1 行だけのテキスト（見出しなど）で使われること
がほとんどであり、大きな問題にはならないでしょう。
