いは、まれに2 つ）の辺だけに影を表示するにはどうすればよいかという
質問です。stackoverflow.comでざっと検索してみたところ、 1,000件
近くもの質問がヒットしました。1 方向に伸びる影のような表示効果はあ
まり目立ちませんが、実世界での現象に即しています。不満を持った開発
者はしばしば、 CSS 作業グループのメーリングリストで box‐shadow‐
bottomのようなプロパティの追加を求めています。しかし、慣れ親しん
だbox‐shadowプロパティだけでもうまく使えば単方向の影を表現でき
ます。
1辺に影を適用する
ほとんどの人々は、下のようにして box‐shadowに3つの数値と色を指
定しています。
完全に正確というわけではないのですが、ここでの影は以下のような手
順で描画されます（図4.1 も参照）。
