Fast Moves: Capturing High-Action Moments

Action photography is all about portraying the movement that is going on around you. This type of photography lends itself to capturing excitement very well because it aptly describes the essence of the moment. Though you won’t encounter situations typically considered “fast action” at a wedding, like cars racing or a soccer player doing a fantastic bicycle kick, (unless of course you photograph a couple who love extreme sports), wedding shots such as the throwing of the bouquet or the groomsmen jumping require a handle on techniques to capture motion. Read on to discover tips on how to successfully convey a sense of movement in your photos.

Preparing to shoot action

Before I dive into the variety of ways you can capture photos of movement during a wedding (see the next section), you should consider a few preliminary aspects of action photography.
