It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Spelling Out the Details in a Contract
When you hire a second shooter to accompany you on the job, make sure to outline some specific details in a contract. Signing a contract in advance helps both parties manage expectations, and it gives you something in writing to refer to later if a problem arises. Consider including the following basics in the contract:
How much you will pay the second shooter, if you plan on paying at all.
Detail what your second shooter can (and can’t) do with the images. For example, if you’re okay with the second shooter putting the photos in her portfolio or on a blog but not on Facebook, make sure those specifics are covered.
A place for both you and the second shooter to sign and date the agreement.
