So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Stay Out of the Way during the Ceremony
A while back I attended a wedding and was utterly dismayed at the amount of attention that the photographer was drawing during the ceremony. This photographer was laying in aisles and shooting in awkward positions fit for a contortionist. This photographer even made her way to the front, squeezed between the groomsmen, and photographed the couple from the stage. Folks, that is a big no-no. I understand that capturing the ceremony is important and that you may want to get some great creative shots. However, being a distraction during the ceremony is unacceptable. The attention of the guests should be solely on the couple as they make their vows, and your goal should be to remain as quiet and invisible as possible.
To help you get those close-up shots without climbing up on the stage, consider buying or renting a telephoto zoom lens, such as a 70–200mm. That way you can still get the desired photos without drawing too much attention. (Chapter 2 provides more guidance on different lenses you can use.)
