It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Arrive at the Wedding with a Plan
Photographing a wedding can be compared to taking a final exam. After months of learning and preparation, it’s time to show that you have a good grasp of the material. And showing up to a wedding without a plan is like coming to the test having not studied and without your #2 pencil! Keep in mind that you have one chance and one chance only to capture the wedding for your glowing couple. Coming prepared is so very important.
For each wedding that you photograph, make sure that you have a detailed schedule of the day and a list of people for the formal portraits (for more info see Chapter 8), along with a knowledge of your location and some ideas for different poses you want to try. Not only will planning ahead make the wedding go more smoothly for you and the wedding party, but it also often helps to ease some of the “Oh my gosh I’m shooting a wedding” nerves.
