Mounting Disks
You mount a disk by inserting it in the disk drive so it appears on the Mac OS Desktop.
Tip
You must mount a disk to use it.

To learn how to mount disks that are not specifically covered in this book, consult the documentation that came with the disk drive.
Tip
If you cannot successfully mount a CD-ROM disc or Zip disk by following these instructions, check to be sure the appropriate driver software has been installed and loaded. I tell you about driver software in Chapter 14.
To mount a floppy disk
Insert the disk in the floppy disk drive, label side up, metal side in. The disk's icon appears on the Desktop (Figure 61).
