A service is an act that one entity performs for another that is essentially intangible and does not result in the ownership of anything. It may or may not be tied to a physical product.
Because services are generally high in experience and credence qualities, there is more risk in their purchase, and consumers tend to rely heavily on price, provider, and physical cues to judge quality. Switching costs for many services tend to be high because customers are very loyal to service providers who satisfy them.
