Maintaining standards

I assume most of you have heard about International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards. They allow organizations to run their operations as per industry standards. In return, a certification will be provided to prove the organization's commitment to maintain standards. Even though organizations pass the ISO certification, the relevant authority will perform a yearly evaluation to make sure they maintain the standards. Most companies follow these standards throughout the year, but for some, they come to attention only when the evaluation is due. This is because the implementation of these standards is easy but maintaining them is challenging.
