It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Summary
SQL Server Configuration Manager provides the server and SQL Native Client protocol management.
SQL Server 2012 supports new features that enrich the client and programmatic data experience. Developers access these new features through the SQL Server Native Client (SNAC) and can now enhance the user experience by improving metadata discovery, improving access to diagnostic information through extended events logs, and offering better user interface response with asynchronous calls and ODBC connection improvements. In addition, stability increases significantly with the use of mirrored servers, AlwaysOn Availability Groups, and other useful features.
