It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Summary
SQL Server 2012 supports both Windows-only authentication and SQL and Windows authentication. Windows-only authentication is the preferred authentication type because it provides additional security and management advantages. Use SQL authentication for backward compatibility reasons only or in non-Windows domain environments.
