Managing Automatic Data Refresh of PowerPivot Workbooks in SharePoint 2010
As mentioned previously, one of the biggest advantages of deploying PowerPivot workbooks to a SharePoint 2010 PowerPivot Gallery is the ability to schedule automatic refresh of the data in the BI Semantic Model.
To schedule automatic data refresh of a PowerPivot workbook follow these steps:
1. Navigate to the SharePoint PowerPivot Gallery to which the PowerPivot workbook is deployed.
2. Open the Manage Data Refresh screen. Launch the Manage Data Refresh screen by clicking the Calendar icon on the top right of the workbook preview area in the Theater, Carousel, or Gallery view. Alternatively, you can also launch the Manage Data Refresh screen by selecting the option from the PowerPivot workbook options in the All Documents view.
3. In the Manage Data Refresh screen, click the Enable checkbox and configure the schedule settings such as the frequency, start time, e-mails for notifications, data source credentials and data source(s) to refresh.
4. Click OK.
The PowerPivot workbook's data will be refreshed automatically according to the schedule configured.
