Creating Templates Manually

Creating a template manually is a very straightforward operation. In order to create a template manually, you simply save an existing virtual machine as a template. You copy the virtual machine, which must be in a stopped state, from the running_pool to the seed pool. You copy the files that make up the virtual machine—the system image, the vm.cfg file, and any other image files—to the seed_pool/<template> directory. These files are almost identical to the files found in the running_pool/<virtual machine> directory that they were created from, with the exception of the data found in the vm.cfg file.
