The virtual machine lifecycle is defined by the various states in which it exists and operates during the machine’s operation. Five basic states exist within the lifecycle, each state allowing for different tasks and configurations. The beginning of the lifecycle is the creation of the virtual machine. The end of the lifecycle is the deletion of the virtual machine. The states in between are known as the lifecycle of the virtual machine.
