This chapter is actually much cooler

than its subtitle implies; it’s just that

I couldn’t come up with a cooler

sounding name than “Artistic Effects,” so don’t

hold that against the effects themselves—it’s

not their fault. I was afraid the name might

scare some people away, because they might

think, “Oh, that’s painting and working with

brushes, and I can’t paint, so I’ll just skip over

this chapter and head on over to ‘Advertising

Effects.’” I don’t think the Gary Coleman

reference in the chapter head helped sell this

chapter much either, but there’s a trick in here
