So when I got on to O'Reilly, I was like a kid in a candy store. There are playlists. There are answers. There's on-demand training. It's worth its weight in gold, in terms of what it allows me to do.
Configuring the DOS Emulation Environment
In most cases, the preferred method of customizing the DOS emulation environment is to make changes to the .pif file for the application.
Originally, an application's .pif file was automatically created the first time the DOS application was executed and was located in the same directory where the application was placed. Today, however, the .pif file is placed in the \Windows\PIF directory and, since the directory is hidden, will not appear when you do a search.
The simplest way to edit the .pif file is to right-click on the application itself, and then select Properties from the pop-up menu to enter the pif editor as shown in Figure 9.17.
