Configuring a Workgroup Network
The first step to configuring a computer on a Workgroup network is to run the Network Setup Wizard. This isn't optional. For security reasons, Windows won't enable file and printer sharing until this wizard has been run at least once. Beyond the settings made by the Network Setup Wizard, there are several features that you should consider and adjust manually.
